Danelle Shaw

Hi! I’m Danelle. My passion for languages and French in particular probably originates from my distant Huguenot ancestry. But it wasn’t until I started studying towards a degree in film that I took up French and quickly fell in love with the translation side of language. I was the only one of my First Year class who went on to do an Honour’s degree in French Translation, which was specially created for me by the Linguistics and the French Departments. The next step was to take a deep dive into language immersion when I went to live the dream as a student in Paris for my Master’s degree. On the legal side, I worked at LexisNexis as a content editor, my first foray into dealing with law, and from there the natural step was to combine my various backgrounds to enter the world of French to English legal translation. Clear communication is the basis of every relationship, whether in business, society or personal. No problem can be solved, progress made or compromise reached if there are language barriers. Being understood is critical. My international experience and knowledge of building bridges between cultures comes from the various stages of my life where I have lived in Singapore, the UK and in France. With over a decade of experience in legal translation, I'm fully versed with the differences in the UK and US legal systems, and those of the civil law countries. This means I can help you translate the most optimal English language equivalent of your foreign-language documents. I'm always working on improving my skills and knowledge to make sure I stay up to date with the latest developments in the translation industry. Legal documents require accuracy and promptness which are essential to both the legal expert and their client. If you need someone who has the same consideration for managing demanding clients and tight deadlines, you can be sure that your legal documents are in the right hands.
