Anneke Schaafsma

I have over 20 years experience as a translator and reviewer from English and German to Dutch, my mother tongue. My translation work mainly concerned technical material, ranging from civil engineering to software and UI, and more recently Data Annotation, analyzing ‘information nuggets’ for AI training and annotation of machine translations. Besides these subjects I also worked in area's like social science and e-learning. My most important skill is that I have a way with words to make technical and complicated texts readable for the intended audience, making sure the final document doesn't 'feel' translated, but without losing technical accuracy. I work with CAT tools like Trados Studio (2019 license), Across, XTM, Phrase, MemoQ and proprietary CAT tools. Recently I also have been asked to take on supporting roles in projects, for example helping less experienced project managers with the preparations, like setting up the project structure, defining tasks and procedures, training linguists and overseeing workflow and deliveries. I have transcribed Dutch and English audio for subtitling and AI training, and I have experience with LLM Annotation (Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback, and Supervised Fine-Tuning) for a leading AI company. My strong technical skills and eye for detail enable me to quickly adapt to new systems and processes. I find satisfaction in ensuring my work meets the highest quality standards, and I am confident in my ability to deliver accurate results in line with the organization’s requirements. For my professional future, I envision a remote position where I can utilize my capabilities regarding linguistics, project and people management, and analytical thinking within an organization that prioritizes corporate responsibility and has an ethical mission regarding the products and services they offer.
